Lions Club Eye Camp - Kumbakonam on 2nd Oct 2004 |

The Kumbakonam Lions Club Family with M.P Jewellers, Lion A.R Mohanram, G. Prithivirajan along with The Art of Living - Kumbakonam and Aravind Eye Hospital - Madurai, Organized a Free Eye Camp on 2nd October 2004 (Gandhi Jayanthi Day). The Camp was operated from 8 A.M till 1 P.M at the center of the Kumbakonam City at Town High School. Visitors and patients underwent a eye-checkup conducted by a team of Eye Specilists from the Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai headed by Dr.K. Ilango Consultant Opthalmologist. Critical patients were consulted with the other specialist at Madurai immediatly using the mobile sattelite link station (donated by World Diabetes Foundation and ISRO). Those who need to undergo Eye Surgery are commuted to Aravind Eye Hospital - Madurai using a special bus free of cost. IOL lense worth Rs. 500/- were donated to the patients free of cost. Diabetes patients also underwent a free eye-check up and eyecare awareness provided. Laser treatment will be provided if required. For those who are above 40 years a free eye-checkup was conducted. Free spectacles were provided at a very nominal cost of Rs. 150/- to Rs. 200/- More than 2000 people underwent eye-checkup on this eye camp. |
